German words of the day: regnerisches Wochenende edition
“Regnerisches Wochenende” simply means a rainy weekend, and around here, when it rains, it pours. Nonetheless, here are four days’ worth of German words, for your reading pleasure.
Fragen is a verb meaning to ask a question. (Die Frage, or the question, is the related noun.)
Er fragt ihn, wie alt er ist. He asks him how old he is.
Der Zahnarzt is the dentist.
Sie will nicht zum Zahnarzt gehen. She does not want to go to the dentist.
Das Herz means the heart.
Das Blut zirkuliert durch das Herz. The blood circulates through the heart.
Die Schmerzen is the pain or the ache, and leads to compound words such as die Zahnschmerzen (the toothache) and die Kopfschmerzen (the headache).
Ich habe seit ein paar Tagen starke Zahnschmerzen. I have had bad toothache for a few days.
